Cowboy Dan rides again

Little did I know that something as simple as a children’s book would be one of the sole reasons why my life is the way it is.

"Cowboy Dan" is a wonderful children’s book. It has filled many children’s minds with riding the range on their trusty side kick capturing bad guys and sleeping under the stars. One of those many children who loved "Cowboy Dan" and all he stood for was a cute little toe headed boy from Tennessee.
This boy was shy, quiet and a cowboy. He would spend his days playing in the sand box and his nights snuggled up next to his mom or dad listening to "Cowboy Dan" over and over. He had every word memorized so no matter how tired mom and dad were they could not skip a page. The toe head with his bowl cut and perfect little legs did not dress the part of the cowboy though. Being the first born son he got to wear sailor suits and knee stockings.
He had an older sister who really wanted a baby sister, on a semi regular basis this little boy (much to his protest) dressed like a little girl. His sister loved this boy, they shared everything and even though the tough older sister liked to dress up the little boy, neither of them are in therapy (yet). The bond between brother and sister grew strong and soon she was reading him "Cowboy Dan".
This little boy soon started to grow and began to slowly live his dreams of being a cowboy. He started spending less time in the sand box and dressing up like a girl (because now he could beat up his tough older sister) and more time helping out on the farm. He even was allowed to stop wearing his knee socks. This boy was now a hand around the farm, he would help his dad plant, harvest and work cows.
The boy was now a teenager and was very active in his schools FFA and then became president and spent a lot time out at the schools farm (even when he was suppose to be in English). This teenager still had dreams, dreams of rambling, roaming around to see all the wide open spaces. He wanted to work as a cowboy on ranches in the wild untamed west. This teenager had dreams and soon his dreams were fulfilled and he began working on ranches and became a top hand.
He soon was to take a job on an operation in Wyoming. Little did he know that he would meet his future bride. Little did she know that the book that was so loved by a little toe headed boy would be what shaped her future husband.

"He's a rootin' tootin' cowboy
and his name is cowboy Patrick
he can ride a horse and rope a steer
as fast as any man-"
Happy Heifer
Patrick's mom and dad are visiting for the weekend and they brought Patrick's favorite book. They want our boys to enjoy hours of reading "Cowboy Dan" just like Patrick did. This is not Patrick's book they found this one on e-bay Patrick's book got worn out years ago!

Quirk's

Quirk # 1 I am afraid of the dark!! If a sweet little kitten runs out from under a bush and I happen to be walking by at the exact moment I will pee my pants and drop dead of a heart attack on the spot. So if you read in the newspaper that a woman drops dead from a kitten attack, it will be me guarantee.

Quirk # 2 I don't like to fly!! I use to fly all the time when I was little. Now I have no desire, won't do it, can't make me. I will drive to Australia if I ever get to go someday.

Quirk # 3 I can't spell at all!! I depend entirely on spell check and that sometimes does not help. What's my problem, man. There, Their, They're, are my biggest problem givers by far and where, were, we're. Help me now, cause I am about to crawl into a hole!

Quirk # 4 I should be in playing with my kids instead of writing this blog, but they sound happy so I will finish

Quirk # 5 I want to become more green and organic and my husband thinks I am strange!! He thinks this is a quirk. Just you wait and see Patrick I will have you loving it all by the time I am done! He smirk's, smiles, laughs than walks out of the room. I'll show him I will!!

Quirk # 6 I wish I had a slight case of OCD. I am a terrible house keeper and SO unorganized( because I have self diagnosed ADD). I get into a fight with my laundry daily, it always wins. This is another reason I am on this mission to become more green, organic and sustainable. So I can live with just the necessities.

Quirk # 7 I have a deep love for animals and animal well fare. Ok most people would say this is not a quirk but most of our friends think it is. And yes sometimes I open my big mouth and say things on the animals behalf that I probably should just keep quiet at. Like when my husband and I are talking to a pig farmer and I start asking him about the size of his farrowing pens and if the sows ever get out. And he looks at me strangely and Say's "your not from PETA or anything are you" and my sweet understanding husband laughs a nervous laugh and gives me that look, you know that look of SHUT UP. He new what he was getting into when he married me 7 yrs. ago!!!!!!

Growing up sorta

I grew up in a Hippy town Ashland Or.
I was one of a very few special people in our town who liked the cowboy way of life. I liked horses and cows and I would skip school to go to the barn while everyone else skipped school to smoke pot.
No matter how far I moved from Ashland. Or How opposite I was from everyone in that town It still has a hold of me like a bad fart and has molded me into who I am today.
I love everything organic. I love the smell and vibe of health food stores and quiet little coffee shops. I believe animals have rights and should be treated with kindness and respect. I do believe though that God put animals on earth for us to use not abuse. We should use every part of that animal as well. I love wide open spaces dotted with ranches and cows. I love working cows horseback. I don't believe in killing animals for sport unless you use every part of that animal. I believe that humans are making a negative impact on earth with all our pollution. I believe global warming is happening. I wish I lived 100 years ago. My horses have to make a living. I love country dances and romance. I love to travel across the US and would like to go abroad(If I don't have to fly). I am raising my kids to have a kind heart for animals but also to know how to use a gun and be self sufficient. I am a strange one that's for sure. This next one is going to shock everyone I am a vegetarian and we get beef for free. I do cook meat for my family.

PEACE DUDE
